Troop 605
Committed to supporting tomorrow's leaders today.

BSA Mission
To help young boys grow into young men who have strong moral character and the ability to lead in their homes, communities and beyond.
A December 2024 update and request for our alumni and friends:
Greetings from the Edneyville Scout Hall!
Each week, boys gather to learn skills, build friendships, and discover what it means to lead, just as you once did. They plan adventures to Lake Lure, Camp Daniel Boone, and Philmont, continuing the legacy of Troop 605.
We’ve used these facilities since the 1960s, when Minor Wilson was Scoutmaster, and we maintained them with help from Scouts and their families. Recent years have been tough for the troop with a lapse in the annual BBQ and a drop in membership.
The good news is we’re growing again. The future is bright with an enthusiastic group of scouts and strong leadership under Scoutmaster Andrew Hein. The Lake House was mostly unscathed by Helene, and ski camp is on. We also have our first post-pandemic crew headed to Philmont this summer.
The Troop Committee has a fundraising goal of $15,000 to fund several important projects:
-
Restore Scout Hall exterior with vinyl siding and fresh paint
-
Shore up boat houses and repair leak damage at the Lake House
-
Grow the scholarship fund so no Scout misses out due to financial constraints
We invite you to join us in supporting Troop 605 by donating what you can afford. You can donate online or by mail.
As one former scout said, “I would not be the man I am today if not for Troop 605.” I hope you too have great memories from being a Boy Scout and using these facilities. Your gift today will help the next generation of boys grow into future leaders.
Yours in Scouting,
Don Henderson (Trustee, former Scoutmaster)
Andrew Hein (Trustee, Scoutmaster)
Marvin Peterson (Trustee, Committee Member)
